Merritt Cahoon Recognized at MIT Research Conference
We would like to congratulate Merritt Cahoon, whose paper - “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” Comparing Deaf and Hard of Hearing Child’s Response to ASL Recommendation System - was ranked in the top 5 at the MIT Undergraduate Research conference.
Merritt was a REU student working at Dr. Zhen Bai’s lab through the Computational Methods for Music, Media, and Minds program this summer. She made several achievements out of the summer experiences, including a poster paper accepted by the ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers and Accessibility (ASSETS), and presentations at the MIT Undergraduate Research Conference and ACM Mid-Southeast Chapter Fall Conference.
Merritt and Dr. Bai are currently working as a student-mentor team to participate in the 6-month Scholars Transforming Through Research (STR) program offered by the Council on Undergraduate Research's Advocacy Program to develop skills in communicating the impact of their research to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
