Michael C. Chavrimootoo Receives Edward Peck Curtis Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student

Michael C. Chavrimootoo, a second-year URCS PhD student advised by Professor Lane A. Hemaspaandra, has been selected as a winner of the University of Rochester 2022 Edward Peck Curtis Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student. The award recognizes graduate students who excel in advancing the teaching mission of the University by providing highly skilled and innovative instruction to our undergraduate students. Prof. Hemaspaandra writes that "Michael is a true triple threat! He has been kind, passionate, and extraordinarily effective in educating the next generation of computer scientists through his teaching, his TAing, and his research mentoring." Vice Provost and University Dean of Graduate Education Melissa Sturge-Apple in her letter informing Michael of the award writes that she is "thoroughly convinced... that you are an outstanding educator with a bright future... my hearty congratulations on winning this prestigious award."
